Anita's three initial ideas
My first initial idea was of doing a music magazine which contains bollywood music and bhangra. Bollywood is a movie industry in india which is very big so there are a wide range of audiences in the UK. A convention of a bollywood movie is to have a lot of music and songs in it, which is why i have chosen this as one of my initial ideas as it is different. On the front cover, i would have a film strip on the top to indicate the relationship to movies the magazine has got. The masterhead would be in a kind of hindi script writing which would look traditional and will be recognised by the target audience, who are people interested in bollywood or bhangra music.
My second initial idea is to do a heavy metal magazine. The house style for this is rough and messy. The target audience for this woul be mostly teenagers as it might have swearing in it. There are other magazines like this such as 'Kerrang'! so it isn't really origanal. For my initial idea, the master head is in a scratched font and the photos would be as if there were stuck on with tape. I did this as most teenagers would relate to it as they stick things up in their bedrooms.
My third initial idea is to do a jazz music genre magazine. I wanted this magazine's house style to be quite neat and organised as jazz is quite classy and sophisticated. I had a photo of a live band playing as most jazz music is heard live. I would use the font serif as it has a classic look for the text on the right. The master head or brand name would be in a neat bold. The colours would be quite neutral, but aimed mostly at men as men tend to be interested in jazz more and there aren't many female jazz singers. Although I haven't done any research on this, I could do in the future to find out more if we choose this idea.
