Forum results for magazine names

We posted a forum with possible magazine names for our funk music magazine on the school's forum. These are the responses we got. Although there aren't many replies, more people liked the magazine name 'Virus', which is why we will be calling it that. Even though it doesn't connect directly to music and funk genre, it appeals to the target audience, which are 15-25 year old.

Draft designs for Funk music

We decided as a group that we're going to do a Funk music magazine. Here are 4 draft designs of 4 magazine house style ideas for our Funk music magazine. We chose this genre of music as it is unique and there is niche market for this which is 15-25 year olds, who are quite sociable and go out a lot. This genre is getting more popular as groups like N.E.R.D and Newboyz are growing. After researching the current market, we found out that there isn't a specific magazine for Funk music, so we thought it would be a good and original idea. This magazine can help promote Funk music and increase it's popularity also.
The four different house styles are quite different and each have an original look. We designed front covers, contents pages and double page spreads for each.

Research-FUNK MUSIC- MEGAN! :O

Funk DEemphasizes melody and harmony and brings a strong rythimic groove of electric bass and drums to the foreground. Funk songs are often based on an extended vamp on a single chord, distinguishing it from R&B and soul songs centered around chord progressions.

Like much African-inspired music, funk typically consists of a complex groove with rhythm instruments such as electric guitar , electric bass, Hammond organs, and drums playing interlocking rhythms. Funk bands sometimes have a horn section of several saxaphones, trumpets , and in some cases, a trombone which plays rhythmic "hits".

Many of the most famous bands in the genre also played disco and soul extensively. Funk music was a major influence on the development of disco music, and funk samles were present in most styles of house music and early hip hop music

CULTERAL ORIGINS- late 1960's America
INSTRUMENTS USED- Drums, keyboards,
MAINSTREAM POPULARITY- High in the 1970's 'old school funk' there was a later arrival of funk beats in metal

DERIVATED FORMS- Disco, electro music, R&B
