The age of the audience that we have aimed our music magaine at are from the ages of 16-25, we decided as a group that this age range would be highly appropriate and work well as this age of the generation that are interested in this genre of music that our magazine focuses on. Whereas if we were to aim it at people aged 50+, they wouldnt be interested to buy the magazine as they are typicaly more interested in classical more sophisticated music, and wouldnt know any of the latest bands or any of the feautures on the magazine. Also this age is appropriate is that the magazine may include mild swear words that any younger would be seen as inappropriate and, have a bad influence.
Another idea that we had to focus on is the social class of the aimed audience, would they be middle class? working calss? or upper class? this had to be decided carefully as this would depend on the decided price of the magazine. Our overal price that we considered appropriate was £2.50, we came to this decision as the age of our target audience would be able to afford it as the majority of them would have a part time job, (shop work in retail) as it is a monthly issue they have time to get the money, if you think about it, the magazine is rather cheap as it has a lot to offer, this also gives them enough money to spare for other social activities, such as going to live gigs, as this will be advertised in our magazine.
The ideas that we came up with to attract the readers is competitions that could give out free ticket's to upcoming gigs and concerts, VIP tickets to meet celebrity's backstage, most of the audiences would jump at this opportunity. The average income that our target audience would earn is the average british income, and most of them would still be in educion, e.g college or university.
